Bahama Islands Resorts and Casinos Co-operative Credit Union Limited was registered in 1986 because of the lack of medical and pension benefits for casino workers. That same year the credit union's assets passed the $1 million mark.In 1992 Crystal Palace casino employees joined the credit union and the following year PIRCCCU acquired its own building on Village Road which was extensively renovated before opening as the credit union's headquarters in 1995.

The first full-time employee (Gaynell Albury) was hired in 1988 and the credit union's accounts were computerised in 1995. Membership currently stands at about 3,076 with total assets of over $16,940,058 (end 2003).
